Rags

Riches
Are you slave to your possessions or are you liberated by your possessions? We lived in our 6 bedroom dream home with a 5 stall garage, heated shop, on a lake in the country for 25 years. We have enjoyed our life here and wouldn't trade it for anything. It was a great place to raise a family. But as the years have passed the burden of ownership has started to limit our freedom. Even though the house was paid off it seemed more and more that we were tied to our house.
We slowly began to conclude that less is more. The majority of our possessions are just "stuff" and don't really contribute to our enjoyment of life. Less financial and time commitment of our possessions was liberating! Not only do we have more freedom but the stress level has been drastically reduced not having to maintain our stuff.
We truly believe we have moved from rags to riches.
2021 Update: We decided to upgrade our Florida home to a 3 bedroom home in the Hamptons in Auburndale. The Hamptons is a 55+ golf course community with lots of activities. Hardly comparable to our Maple Lake home, but it definitely gives both of us the space needed to pursue our hobbies and passions. More details to come.
