Edisto River

During our stay at Givhans Ferry State Park we had a change to explore the Edisto River. The Edisto River is the longest free flowing black water river in North America flowing over 250 miles with no dams or rapids, just an easy flowing river. The river is a canoe/kayak paradise and a common destination of paddlers. The shores are lined with oaks draped in Spanish moss and old growth cypress trees.

The river was a little high and running a little fast during our excursions. Both demand a little respect but didn't pose any challenges or prevent us from enjoying our outing. It was a beautiful days with clear skies and calm winds. We feel blessed to have been immersed in such beauty.
