We left Spearfish bright and early this morning and got to the Big Horns around 10:15am. We stopped at the KOA in Buffalo to fill up with fresh water. The staff at the KOA told us that extensive rain in the Big Horns had washed out and closed many of the forest roads that lead to the many boondocking spots. We stopped at the Big Horn National Forest Office, and they gave us a list of the many closed roads, including one that leads to the spot we were planning on staying at.
Time for a little regrouping. We decided to head to our normal 1st night site by Grouse Mountain. It's not the best spot but it will allow us to do a little scouting to find an alternate spot. There's a slight possibility that the road to Elgin Park will open in the next day or two, we'll have to keep any eye on it.
