First leg of our journey home is Abilene TX. Forecast for Abilene is 107 degrees, so we decided to start early in the morning to avoid some of the high temps. We were up at 3:30am and on the road by 4am. The early morning start help avoid the high temps while travelling. We arrived in Abilene around 12:30pm and the temps were still in the 90s. The temps quickly hit >100 and worked its way up to the forecasted 107. Yup, the humidity was only 13%....... but 100+ temps are blazing hot if in the sun! And don't dare touch anything with bare skin.
We will be leaving early in the morning again since tomorrows forecast isn't much better. Hope to be on the road by 3:30am. Our target destination is Shreveport LA, we should arrive by 11am before the heat of the day.
