As we travel the country we constantly see cities/towns declaring to be "historic". While every town has a history, Savannah really defines the term historic.
Savannah is a coastal city that is separated from South Carolina by the Savannah River and was established in 1733. It’s known for manicured parks, horse-drawn carriages and antebellum architecture. Its historic district is filled with cobble stoned squares (22) and parks shaded by oak trees covered with Spanish moss. At the center of this picturesque district is the landmark, Gothic-Revival Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist. Taking one of the trolleys and walking is a great way to experience this city.
Outside the city Tybee Island and Hilton Head Island provide coastal beaches and recreation opportunities.
