South eastern South Dakota has had a very wet year and recent heavy storms/rain has compounded the issue. Flooding has caused multiple road closures, some have been closed for days and not sure when they will re-open. The Big Sioux River is out of its banks and in many places you can't even tell where the main channel is supposed to be.
The campground we were scheduled to stay in has been closed since it's currently under water. They were forced to evacuate the campers in the middle of the night.
The Big Sioux River is typically a very calm, slow running, river but it's now raging. The Falls are running at a pace I have never seen,
I hope this is the end of moisture in the area and things have a chance to dry out. The outlook for the farmers isn't looking good at this point.
